About Risen Savior Englewood
A Welcoming, Bible-based Lutheran Church serving the Englewood community.
We are a close-knit church family gathered around God's word and committed to sharing Christ's love.
Who We Are
Risen Savior Lutheran Church was started in 1975 by a small group of believers who saw a need in our community. After worshiping on the stage of a local middle school, plans were made to acquire property and begin building. The fellowship hall was the first to be built and was used for worship for several years. In 1988 the sanctuary was completed and we have joyfully held worship there since.
Risen Savior Englewood is a WELS Lutheran church dedicated to sharing the message of Jesus through worship, teaching, and service. We are a small but active congregation where people are known, supported and encouraged in their faith.
Part of the WELS Church Body
Risen Savior Englewood is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), a group of Lutheran churches that are united in their commitment to the Bible as the true Word of God.
WELS congregations share the same beliefs and mission, working together to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
As part of this church body, we are connected to a larger community of believers while remaining a close-knit, local congregation here in Englewood.

What We Believe
God’s Word doesn’t change—and that’s exactly why we trust it. What we believe and teach is anchored in the Bible, firm and eternal.
God
We believe in one true God—eternal, holy, and full of wisdom and power. In the Bible, God reveals Himself as three persons in one: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Every word is truth—breathed out by the Holy Spirit and written for our salvation. It is the clear and complete guide for faith and life.

Creation
We believe that God created the world in six days, just as the Bible says. Everything that exists—including every person—is part of His good and intentional design.

Jesus
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, and willingly gave Himself on the cross to pay for the sins of the world.

Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are forgiven and set free—not because of what we’ve done, but because of what He has done for us.

Life
We believe that life with Jesus is full, free, and forever. Because of Him, we live with purpose now and have the promise of eternal life to come.

Pastor of Risen Savior Englewood
Welcome to Risen Savior in Englewood! My name is Pastor Marty Luchterhand, and it is a joy and privilege to serve this congregation.
My wife, Wendy, and I have been married since 1992, and the Lord has blessed us with four sons, ages 31 to 19. As we enter the “almost empty nester” stage of life, we enjoy spending time together with our pets and exploring new places. I especially enjoy the outdoors and the many ways we can appreciate God’s creation.
I have been blessed to serve in public ministry for over 30 years, having the opportunity to serve congregations of various sizes in four different states. Each experience has deepened my appreciation for the Lord’s Church and the privilege of proclaiming His Word.
I am grateful and excited to serve Risen Savior in Englewood, Florida. I look forward to growing together in Christ, encouraging one another in faith, and sharing the hope of the gospel with Englewood and the surrounding community.
